First Impression: NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette

Hey Everyone!

I mentioned last night that I wanted to do a first impression of this palette. It’s a palette that I have been lusting over since it came out and I only got my hands on it a few weeks ago.

Like most products, I hate using them at first, as I love how pretty they look (I know I am not the only one!), but I have used this palette once. I will do a full review once I have tested it out a bit more. When it comes to contouring, I love my Kat Von D Shade & Light palette, so we will have to see how well this compares.

NYX Pro Palette

First things first…

I honestly love the individual pans for this palette. It makes it so easy to replace any shades you run out of or if you don’t like a certain shade, you can pick another one up and pop it in. There are 4 highlights and 4 contour shades. And it retails for $30 CDN.

Highlighters

In order of how they come in the palette, the shades are:

  • Ice Queen (Shimmer)
  • Soft Light (Matte)
  • Cream (Matte)
  • Nectar (Shimmer)

NYX Highlighting Swatches

Both Ice Queen and Nectar are gorgeous shades. Perfect for highlighting! Cream is more of a banana shade which is perfect for setting concealer with. I am not the biggest fan of Soft Light as it hasn’t been used as much, so I will have to give it more of a chance before I give my final review.

Contouring

In order of how they come in the palette, the shades are:

  • Tan
  • Toffe
  • Sculpt
  • Hollow

NYX Contour Swatches

All of the contouring shades are matte and they have a great range of dark shades. They are very easy to blend out and they don’t give your face that “dirty brown” look.

Overall

I am really impressed with how pigmented all the shades are! I only need one swipe of my brush to get enough pigmentation. I love how easy they are to blend out providing a flawless contour and highlight. The packaging is a little bit bulky, but it’s completely understandable when there is 8 shades.

NYX Contour Palette

This palette could really become my go-to, but I will give it a few more days to get an overall idea of how well it performs.

Let me know if you have purchased this palette or if you are planning on it! I would love to hear your thoughts.

  2. I heard of that palette and wanted to try for a long time but I wasn’t sure that it was good quality. Thanks for the review I love NYX’s products 🙂

  3. This looks super pigmented – wow! Did you get this from Shoppers? I still have not bought any NYX from Shoppers or from the store downtown… trying to figure out what I want first! 😛 I’m leaning toward their concealers.

    • The pigmentation is crazy! I obviously had to pack on a bit more product for the highlighter swatch, but I used one swipe of the product for the contour shades…so impressed!
I did buy it from Shoppers-only 1 left, so I was lucky! The concealers are so good, definitely go with those first.
